Port Chester designated a ‘Yellow Zone’ by state

Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases, Port Chester has now been designated a “Yellow Zone” by New York State and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.  This designation is a strong reminder that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over.

“Wearing a mask and social distancing is not an option—you must do it,” Westchester County Executive George Latimer said.  “I do not want to see cases continue to rise, we must make small sacrifices now to protect the entire County.”

Along with speaking with Cuomo, Latimer is in communication with Port Chester officials including Mayor Richard “Fritz” Falanka, county Legislator Nancy
Barr, state Sen. Shelley Mayer and state Assemblyman Steven Otis.

Westchester County Health Department and Open Door Family Medical Center expanded testing in Port Chester until Nov. 10.  The testing initiative
was made in consultation with the New York State Department of Health.

“This is not the time to panic, but this is the time to make adjustments to your habits and take precautions to protect yourself, and those you love, against
COVID-19,” Latimer said.  (Submitted)
